Well, walking as I do down Kurfurstendamm every morning, I figured I'd better take some photos of the shop windows that are currently inspiring me (see earlier post). Here are just two pieces that took my eye recently. The scarf in the first pic is very obviously crochet, and an adaptation of the granny square style. I have many patterns for scarves like these. The best patterns using motifs like this integrate the joining of the motifs into the last round. So you can join as you go and keep the momentum going. There is nothing worse than sewing together a thousand annoying little squares (yep, I've been there). Anyway, back to the pic. What I found quite interesting about the outfit was that they'd used two scarves on the model. this had never occurred to me before but given my current output of crochet scarves this is looking like a good - and fashionable - option!
Pic number two is probably knitting (but I'm not knit-ist, I'll have you know) but the curly crazy bits at the end took my fancy somewhat. I've seen this technique in one of Crochet Today magazines I think and it looked quite easy to create these funny spirals...I believe it was a kid's scarf pattern i was looking at, but here you go, it's hit the men's fashion parade. Even though he's made of plastic (hey, none of us is perfect, right) the model looks pretty darn cool.
